MediaCatcher, the software used to rip music directly to portable media devices like the iPod and Zune will be available for free.

MediaCatcher allows users to easily search for and legally time-shift unlimited music from broadcasts on the Internet.

It's kind of like recording a mix-tape from the FM radio, like way back in the day, but a little more high-tech. It's legal, too, supposedly.

What is Mediacatcher?

On January 8th, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, BroadClip announced a new version of our MediaCatcher software that allows you to search for and capture all the music you want for your iPod, Zune or other portable media player. Once your music has been captured, it is automatically loaded onto your portable player, ready to be enjoyed wherever and whenever you want.

BroadClip’s MediaCatcher products are completely legal and do not violate any laws concerning the use of copyrighted media. You have the right to personally record broadcasted content to your personal computer and to listen to that content whenever and wherever you want.

MediaCatcher’s massive song and artist database, built by mapping Internet radio stations and their typical programming, enables it to find and automatically capture the music you request. First-time users can expect to capture hundreds of songs with a single search, with very high accuracy.

To use MediaCatcher, you just need a Windows XP PC or Laptop and a high speed internet connection. BroadClip will be supporting the Macintosh and Linux platforms soon.
