CliffyB delivered this little piece of insight into the mind of the wild game designer during Computer and Video Games' X06 interview: I think it's important to be careful with the whole game-to-movie thing because game designers have this Hollywood envy where they don't believe they've made it unless their game has been turned into a movie. This is one part of a very good interview. The B-Cliff is good at saying what he needs to say with good humor, enthusiasm, and no corporate PR bullshit. But I don't need to tell you this. In response to the above quote, that many game designers are looking for movie deals, my gut reaction is why? The immediate response is "money, duh" but with the current state of video game movies, I would get zero artistic gratification out a movie deal on a game I'd worked on. I'd see it less as a destination and more of a slightly embarrassing stack of cash. Do you think the Halo movie is going to change all this? It has a h311 of a lot going for it, but at the same time I'm wary of hoping too hard. www.kotaku.com/gaming/franchise/hollywood-envy-among-game-designers-204940.php
