It might come as a surprise to you but the Xbox 360 landed in India just a couple of months ago. On top of that, Xbox Live is yet to go online. Without this and other key features, according to one Indian analyst, the Xbox 360 is no more than current-gen console, PlayStation 2.
"After spending hours with the manufacturer-provided console racing cars and killing off really ugly monsters, the big difference between this machine and those in the market today, particularly, Sony's PlayStation 2 (PS2), were not obvious," wrote Raghuveer Malik for online site Rediff. However, he added that to a discerning gamer, "the XBox 360 is a bulkier, much more powerful, and significantly dearer version of the PS2."
Before you flame the guy, please take into consideration where his arguments are coming from. According to Malik, to truly enjoy next-gen gaming, one must have an HDTV - something that is not quite popular yet in India. He added that the library of games available for them are not that "earth-shattering." The prices, he added further, are senselessly high:
- Core X360: Rs 23,100 (US 518)
- Pro X360: Rs 27,750 (US 622)
- One Title: Rs 2,500 (US 56) - ans we're not talking about premium, top of the line titles here
- Controller: Rs 2,840 (US 64)
Can't really blame the guy, huh? He's not a fanboy nor a hater. It's just that these are, according to him, realities. He ended his article saying it would we wise to wait for a while. Wait, not only for the online service, but for the competition (PS3 and Wii) to arrive.
