The annual event, held by the ESA Foundation, has been around for seven years, raising a total of over $7.5 million for kid-related charities. "The annual Nite to Unite dinner is about competitors joining in a common cause on behalf of children, and for me it is truly the most gratifying night of the year on the industry calendar," said ESA head Doug Lowenstein. "Each year, as a result of the unwavering support throughout the industry, we are able to make a real difference in the future of thousands of young people." Foundations benefiting from the fundraiser include Web Wise Kids, HopeLab, Working Achievement Values Education and PAX. The organizations focus on actively promoting online safety education, gaming for kids with cancer, stay-in-school programs and anti-gun violence. The ESA Foundation is also establishing a scholarship for women and minorities who are pursuing education in computer- and videogame-related fields. Big industry names who attended the benefit included THQ boss Brian Farrell, Eidos CEO Bill Gardner, Buena Vista Games general manager Graham Hopper and GameStop COO Dan DeMatteo. www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4104&Itemid=2
