Video interview with Castlevania Producer Koji IgarashiThe folks over at Kikizo managed to snag an interview with Konami's Koji Igarashi and composer Michiru Yamane. Interesting stuff in it, but what's most telling is Igarashi's passion for 2D gaming action. If last year's Dawn of Sorrow is to be taken as evidence, then there is still much love for all things 2D, despite this being a next-gen world. Now if we can only manage to get ourselves a copy of Portrait of Ruin.... Anyway, interesting bits here (for you curious gamer types) include portions where IGA talks about the XBL release of the PS1 classic, Symphony of the Night, and a test Castlevania developed for the PSP. Since Kikizo doesn't want people direct linking to their video file, we'll do you guys a favor and provide you a vid embed of the thing. feeds.feedburner.com/~r/qj/xbox/~3/62699497/76449

IGA loves Castlevania, 2d. His team loves the DS.How. Shocking. Koji "Iga" Igarashi not only LOVES Castlevania, he also LOVES 2D game design. He tells game site Kikizo: As you know I love 2D game development!Yes! We know! I am working really on an underground basis to make it happen on a console game. But then again when you look at the mainstream market, it doesn't want 2D console games.Don't know about you cowpokes in Kotaku-land, but I am hip to 2D and am interested in a big old fashion console Castlevania. Iga goes on to say he asked his team to bring the series to the PSP, but they contested and said: "Please, we can't do this on PSP!" And so Castlevania games are on the DS. Just like that, huh? www.kotaku.com/gaming/iga/iga-loves-castlevania-2d-his-team-loves-the-ds-222981.php
