SpaceWorld is a video game trade show hosted by Nintendo. Unlike most of the other big game trade events, SpaceWorld is not held annually or any other set interval; Nintendo usually makes a decision to hold the show or not by mid-July. It is typically held to unveil new consoles or handhelds. It has historically always taken place inside Japan, in either Kyoto (where Nintendo is headquartered) or Tokyo. The last SpaceWorld occurred in 2001, featuring the then newly-announced Nintendo GameCube and Game Boy Advance. A compilation trailer of Nintendo licenses running on GameCube hardware excited many fans, with much of the excitement stemming from the showing of a realistic Link and Ganon from the The Legend of Zelda series in combat with each other. The realistic look was eventually scrapped in favor of the cel-shaded world of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, but has been revisited in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It was speculated that another SpaceWorld would be held in 2005 for the formal unveiling of Nintendo's next console, Wii. The speculations were incorrect as Nintendo chose to fully reveal the details of Wii at E³ 2006. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceWorld
