Ooh, another boring video game review! In response, GameDaily has a critique on the sad state of mainstream video game journalism; the reasons it got where it is, and what can be done to start improving. The article blames poor writing skills, overuse of cliches, cheesy punchlines (wha, wha, wha...), lack of original thought, and an overall level of immaturity. For the record, I'll have you know my grammer is impeccable. So are video game blogs like Joystiq part of the problem? www.gamedaily.com/features/?id=1060

I remember the days when EGM was good, but then a lot of the that team quit and hired a whole buttload of hacks. Now you need to get through like 10 pages of ads to get to the table of contents. Get one page article, three pages of ads, I think they lost their way.
I never liked Game Informer. Most of their articles are worthless, and I think their reviews are just stupid (I've never forgiven them for the "excuse" they had for Paper Mario).
I don't check out IGN often if at all. I don't like their website.
I think Gamespot is a good source for game related articles though...but thats it...

I miss the days of GameFan, my favorite video game magazine. I agree EGM, GI and IGN are nothing short of mindless drivel for the majority.
I subscribe to Gamespot's digital newsletters and find myself wanting to unsubscribe.
My current choice of mags include: Gamespy, GameProducer, Gamasutra, Kotaku, Joystiq, The Escapist, QJ.net and Gameblogs.
These sites give me all the articles that I posted up --- mainly business and very clear and concise.

Oh man, I loved GameFan. That mag was quote unqoute "the joint" back then. It was a VERY sad day when I read that they were discontinuing. I miss them to this very day.
