Ignorance is a horrible thing my friends and it’s even worse when it peeks its head up in the context of higher education. Indiana Wesleyan University has decided to instate a new rule for its students, NO M RATED VIDEO GAMES! If you attend Indiana Wesleyan there will be no more Halo, no more Gears of War, and no more DOAX2. It’s moves like this one that give the gamers of the world a bad reputation. By banning those games they are effectively saying playing violent games is wrong and that we are all sinners and heathens….which might be true but that’s beside the point. I seriously doubt the university has the resources to actually stop its students from playing the games they want, but never the less they have already made themselves look foolish. I’m sure the university thinks what they are doing is right….or holy, but to any reasonable person or gamer it just doesn’t make sense to try and censor what adults do with their free time. If they want to set a moral standard they should look at themselves first and just let the kids blow off some steam. I would love to have a link to the article about this story but currently it only resides as hard copy. I will however give you a link to Indiana Wesleyan Sojourn. This is where they will eventually put up a web version of the story. Would you go to a school with this kind of rule? Let us know in the comments section. www.aeropause.com/archives/2006/11/college_bans_vi.php

HE double hockey sticks NO! Violence has, and will exist for a very long time. People are responsible for themselves. Or mental illness is responsible. Not video games, not movies, not lliterature, not pornography. Until a child turns 18, the parents are responsible for what that child says or does, nothing and no one else.
