7 Tips on Making Money with Low-traffic Website
There are plenty of posts about how to monetize your blog - and the usual answer is “Use Google Adsense, Get Traffic”. Google adsense can bring you money, but it’s very unlikely that a low traffic site could make much money with it.
Here’s 7 tips on making money with low-traffic website:
1 - Focus on niche
If you have low-traffic site, make sure you pick up a specific niche and gather few very target readers rather than several random readers. 100 visitors who are specifically interested in your topic is much better than 10000 generraly interested in gardening, politics, blogs, games, motorcycles… and anything else outside your topic. So, choose your niche. Choose your reader.
2 - Choose ad and affiliate programs carefully
Choose few good over many poor. If possible, test the programs before recommending them. Few days ago I launched my online multilplayer games portal and I’m doing exactly this: I’m focusing on few quality games, testing and picking them very carefully and making sure players love the games. It’s much better way to do business than making a huge game dictionary.
Similarly: don’t just pick Google Adsense for the reason that some million dollar visitor site is making money with it. You can use Adsense, but pick it from realistic point-of-view. Low-traffic sites won’t simply make much money with google adsense. Much better alternative for low-traffic sites is Text Link Ads.
3 - Focus on content
If you’ve read How hit games are created you understand that site without valuable content is useless. Focus on giving valuable and high quality content for your visitors. GameProducer.net is about that: giving game developers and producers information that they can put in use right away after reading.
4 - Target your promotion
Target your promotion. Focus on specific places rather than many different type of sites. Make press releases, submit news, post at forums
5 - Set goals
Failing to plan is planning to fail. Set goals. Do you want to earn $5 or $5000 per month? If you focus on earning $50 per month then your thinking is set up to some levels. Don’t be afraid to set high end goals, and keep thinking how you could benefit from them.
6 - Ask the million dollar question
Ask yourself: “How can I give 100 times or 1000 times more value to my readers?” If you answer to that question - whether it’s helping people to earn more money or have more fun - then you’ll be sure to get what you wanted.
7 - Be patient
Be patient. Making money takes time, and best ways to bring money might need proper testing. But, be patient. Eventually you’ll see money.
Now. Take the first steps.
